Initially releasing as a more adventure focused, dungeon crawling alternative to the hit gameMinecraft,Minecraft Dungeonswas less of a sandbox experience compared to the original title, though it does allow for more fleshed-out combat, similar to theDiabloseries in terms of its top-down and party based nature. At first,Minecraft Dungeonsoffered a more compactMinecraftexperience, however developer Mojang is now looking to expand the world and gameplay ofMinecraft Dungeons.

Multiple DLCs and content updates have dropped forMinecraft Dungeonsin the time since its release, including the2021 Hidden Depths DLCwhich took players to the deepest parts of the ocean in theMinecraftworld. Now, it seems Mojang has its sights set on quite the opposite biome, asMinecraft Dungeonstakes players to the clouds above in the latest Cloudy Climb update. Cloudy Climb is seen by many as the start of a new era forMinecraft Dungeons.

With a roguelite game mode known as the Tower, players are required to fight their way through procedurally generated floors of enemies in order to climb as high as they can. Each run of the Tower starts players off with a blank slate, similar to theroguelite game mode being introduced toHitman 3or the gameHades.Alongside a new game mode though,Minecraft Dungeonsis releasing its first adventure pass, which contains cosmetics such as skins, capes and pets as well as emotes for players to use.

The Cloudy Climbs Adventure Pass content is available for free for players who ownMinecraft Dungeons, however there are options for players who want to spend real money in the game. The Cloudy Climbs update and Adventure Pass is the first seasonalupdate that will be making its way toMinecraft Dungeons, with future updates containing similar levels of content.Minecraft Dungeonplayers will also be able to increase their Adventure Rank through special events like the Tower by competing in daily and weekly challenges for rewards. For players who’ve beaten the story ofMinecraft Dungeons, this seems a good excuse to hop back into the game.

Minecraft Dungeonsis available on a breadth of platforms. LikeMinecraft, it seems that Mojang wants to makeMinecraft Dungeonsas accessible of a game as possible. Besides the usual implementation of the game on PC and consoles, it was even announced that anarcade version ofMinecraft Dungeonswill be released, allowing for even more people to get their hands on the revealed content for Cloudy Climbs.

Minecraft Dungeonsis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
