In the build-up toMortal Kombat 1’s launch this fall, NetherRealm has been slowly unveiling the revamped warriors of its latest fighting game, be they fully playable Kombatants orsupportingMK1Kameo fightersthat players can call upon to help in battle. So far, most of the characters confirmed forMortal Kombat 1have been series regulars like Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

These two are among the most noteworthy members ofMortal Kombat 1’s roster, as Liu Kang’s reset of the main timeline at the end ofMortal Kombat 11means that these once bitter rivals are brothers and allies within the ancient Lin Kuei clan. Today’sMortal Kombat 1trailer puts the spotlight on the pair, who are recruited by Liu Kang to help defend Earthrealm from an impending threat. However, as therecently updatedMK 1character biosdescribe it, Sub-Zero has his own ideas for how the Lin Kuei should serve the world - namely that it should lead Earthrealm rather than simply serve it.

Just as he was inthe oldMortal Kombattimeline, Smoke is a fellow member of the Lin Kuei who shows off his punishing combos and smoke-based powers against Kenshi. The trio soon meets a new enemy: Rain, who was previously teased byMKco-creator Ed Boon earlier this week. The violet-clad prince is shown unleashing his watery portals and staff strikes in a match with Scorpion.
