The newMortal Kombatmovie, that wasofficially announced back in 2011, has finally wrapped on filming. There has not been a newMortal Kombatmovie in years, and fans have been eagerly awaiting the film’s release. Actor Lewis Tan posted an emotional farewell this morning on Instagram saying farewell to the experience and the unprecedented level of commitment from all cast and crew.
At this time, Tan’s character has not been confirmed, but he is rumored to be playing either Kung Lao or Johnny Cage. “This will take awhile to process before I can put the feelings into words accurately,” the happy Tan explains, going on to say how he is physically and emotionally depleted. Many of the cast have also shared their overwhelming gratitude for the film, marking as some of their favorite work they’ve done so far.Tan fervently acknowledges the hard work of the cast and crewsaying that they made something “truly special here.”

In Lewis Tan’s series of photos, he shares his thanks with several people for their help and support. Tan is seen celebrating with co-starJoe Taslim, the actor playing Sub-Zeroby spraying him with a bottle of champagne. Lastly Tan thanks his 15-year-old niece who fought a rare lung disease when she was younger, and who Tan attributes his strength to keep fighting.
TheMortal Kombatmovie, based on the popular game by the same title, has itself been on director Kevin Tancharoen’s mind since 2010 where he Oren Uziel directed and produced the short filmMortal Kombat: Rebirth. They released the finished product online in hope that Warner Brothers would notice their work and pick up their option for the film. Luckily, the plan worked and now the full feature film reboot has been going so well that therelease date has even been moved up ahead of schedule.
Tan has been among several cast members teasing and hinting at what the movie has in store for fans. Many have been mining for leaks and watching as cast members post their training videos searching for any details that might give away plot of the movie. Not long ago,Tan teased the bloody finale of theMortal Kombatmoviesaying that it was combat and choreography was “on a whole other level.”
