Mosswas one of the best games to release for the PlayStation VR. It should come as no surprise then thatMoss: Book 2is just as good. The review scores and comments are very similar. However, two things are holding it back from true greatness: the PS4 and the original PSVR.
Mosswas released in 2018. It’s been four years since then and by this time, the PS4 has been ultimately retired. Support for PSVR has been dwindling as well. It’s odd thatMoss: Book 2wasn’t held back to be a launch titlefor the PSVR 2. If it had, some of the following issues may have not been an issue. Hopefully, some of these things can get fixed in a patch.

8Add Co-Op
If thisgame allowed co-op, a lot of its problems would go away. Sometimes playing the game can feel like patting one’s head and rubbing one’s stomach at the same time — the controls are quite comples.

Players control Quill with the PS4 controller like a normal platformer game. They also use the controller’s motion support, along with the PSVR headset, to manipulate objects, such as moving blocks or stopping enemies. If a second player could use the PlayStation Move controllers separately, or even another PS4 controller, it would help a lot.
7Simplify Motion Controls
If it is impossible to turnMoss: Book 2intoa co-op game, then the developers could implement another method to diminish motion controls. Adding in an ability to switch off between moving Quill and moving the spherical reticle, representing the player as the Reader, would be one idea.
It would be a lot easier, for example, to move a block or an enemy with an analog stick rather than fighting the motion controls. The more control options this game gets, the better. Co-op would still be preferable though.

6Improve Quill’s Jump
Quill is one of the mostadorable platformer heroesin quite some time. She is quite capable of handling any situation players put her in, thanks to her sword skills. However, as nimble as Quill looks, jumping with her is like manipulating a bag of rocks.

That is a dramatic overstatement, but jumping does feel like Quill is weighed down. It shouldn’t be as difficult as it is to close some of the shorter gaps in the game. It takes precision to make some leaps so a way to lighten Quill’s load would be grand.
5Water Shouldn’t Be Instant Death
The jumpingand motion controlscan sometimes lead to an early grave for poor Quill. There are levels in the game where falling into water will result in an instant kill. The checkpoint system in the game wavers from being fair to being annoying as it can restart whole sections over again.
Some games put the player back at their last position if they fall in the water. That should be the case forMoss: Book 2,to create a less frustrating experience. Hopefully, that can get patched in quickly.

4Add A Tittle Screen
One of the most bizarre decisions this game made was not to include a title screen. When players first boot up the game, they will enter the reading hall withMoss: Book 2displayed below on an actual book. This is the only time that will happen. After that, restarting the game will load directly into the last save.
Most games allow players to back out to the title screen in the menu. However, that option is not available. To quit, players have to go to the PS4 home screen. That might be how a lot of players end their games, but some may prefer to back out of the game itself. This can ensure things get saved properly.

3Add More Voices
The storyin this platformer. leaves something to be desired The narrative is fine, but the production behind it is lacking. One actress is doing the voices for everyone like it was an audiobook.

This fits the storytelling gimmick, as cutscenes are presented with turning pages of a book. However, some may find it to be a bit too cheesy or childlike. It might be too late to ask for a full voice cast now, or for the developer to add in more fluid cutscenes. It’s a wish to be sure.
2Add A Photo Mode
One of the best things aboutMoss: Book 2is the sense of scale players will get. It is one of the most awe-inspiring VR games out there, even if the graphics are held back due to the PS4’s limitations. It would be nice to capture these moments better with a Photo Mode. The native PS4 capture button just doesn’t do this game justice.
Being able to zoom in, without relying on players to physically walk around, would be a huge bonus too. It might be hard to put in a Photo Mode ina VR game, but it doesn’t seem impossible.

1Fix Item Glitches
Glitches are one of the most obvious things developers need to work on when patching their games.Moss: Book 2is almost glitch-free. However, while playing, some may find items that cannot be interacted with. The pink scroll in the picture, for example, could not be obtained.
Reloading save files tends to fix these glitches, but it would be better if these problems weren’t around at all. It’s a small wish because, again, almost 95% of this game is immaculate. The tighter the experience, the broader smiles will become while playing.
