Asone of the most important FPS games of the 1990s, if not of all time, id Software’s original games helped establish the genre, inspiring shooters to this day. However, there was a time when the newDoomgame was going to be something different to what was launched, and some new images have been doing the rounds which show what some of the characters were going to look like.A few days ago, a post on Twitter by user Crispies, a self-professed lover ofDoom, displayed three renderings which showed a number of variants of the resistance soldiers that would have been in the game before it was scrapped in favor of the reboot. Each image shows a different character in gritty armor and with what appears to be warpaint on their faces. According to the tweet, the body shots were produced by Blur Studios, which has worked on things likeQuake 3 RevolutionandStar Wars: The Force Unleashed 2.RELATED:This Doom Mod Basically Turns the Game Into MinecraftFootage from the cancelled Doom 4 projectwas released back in December 2020, which showed what the game would have been like had the developer seen the project through. However, some of the action footage, which features a number of marines, gives it a modern FPS look in line with things likeCall of Duty, only grittier and with hell demons.
