The classic ’90s sci-fi seriesQuantum Leapstill enjoys a respectable fan base to this day, so a reboot in some shape or form kind of felt like only a matter of time. But when said reboot was finally announced atNBC, the network started things out by playing the details close to the chest. Now, however, it seems as though they’re finally ready to share more info.

TheQuantum Leaprebootalready hinted that it would be more of a continuation than a retelling, with a whole new cast of characters trying to figure out the technology that made Scott Bakula’s Dr. Sam Beckett disappear 30 years ago. But even though that’s more than enough to get fans excited, it’s not surprising that everyone wanted more details. From story elements to more info about a certainGhostbustersstar,NBCnow has the answers for eager fans and newcomers alike.

“It has been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished,” the initial synopsis read. “Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.” Now, audiences finally have more to go on with a more detailed description, which adds, “everything changes, however, when [Raymond Lee’s Dr. Ben Seong] makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.”

“At the helm of the highly confidential operation is Herbert ‘Magic’ Williams (Ernie Hudson),” the synopsis continues, “a no-nonsense career military man who has to answer to his bosses who won’t be happy once they learn about the breach of protocol. The rest of the team at headquarters includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit ‘Ziggy,’ and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), who heads up digital security for the project.” Looks like NBC isn’t skimping on the details with this description, and that isn’t even the end of it.

“As Ben leaps from life to life, putting right what once went wrong,” the description resumes with some language that should sound familiar to fans of the original, “it becomes clear that he and the team are on a thrilling journey. However, Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jenn know that if they are going to solve the mystery of Ben’s leap and bring him home, they must act fast or lose him forever.” It’s definitely a lot of new info, and almost certainly enough to convince fans thattheQuantum Leaprebootwill carry on in the spirit of its predecessor.

Not only do audiences finally have a better idea of what to expect, but NBC also revealed the show’s premiere date, which is a lot closer than many may have expected. Here’s hoping it’s a worthy successor. But either way, it’s bound to be one heck of a ride.
