After months of build-up,Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apartwill finally be available tomorrow, allowing legions of fans to discover what awaits the franchise’s titular protagonists in their latest adventure. With the release now just hours away, it seemsInsomniac Gameshas offered one final glimpse into its newest take on the seminal series, debuting a launch trailer over on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel.
The promo is just under three minutes long and focuses on setting up the events ofRift Apart, introducing viewers to Rivet and the alternate-dimension Ratchet and Clank find themselves trapped in. Along the way, it reveals plenty of action and cinematic moments, as Ratchet and Rivet go head to head with both versions of Nefarious and their armies of robotic minions.

The trailer also spends a brief amount of time highlightingRivet’s place in the world ofRift Apart. An early moment in the trailer, for example, shows the Lombax rescuing a citizen on the streets of Nefarious City, fighting back against its emperor’s underlings to save them. Her life gets turned upside down after Ratchet and Clank accidentally detonate the Dimensionator during a battle against Doctor Nefarious, crossing from their dimension into hers.
The rest of the trailer documents how the trio of heroes plan to save the world, with Ratchet, Clank, and Rivet setting out on a mission to build a new Dimensionator to send Doctor Nefarious back to his original reality. The trailer makes it clear that’s easier said than done, with players having to battle through hordes of enemies,traverse treacherous planets, and find powerful weapons throughout their adventure. Along the way, they’ll clash with a colorful cast of larger-than-life villains, with the trailer revealing an alternate dimension Rusty Pete and Emperor Nefarious himself. The latter shows up in the final moments of the promo and looks to be a much more intimidating adversary than his alternate universe counterpart.
All in all, it’s a great setup forRatchet and Clank’sreturn to screens tomorrow, offering an early look at the sequel’s story, characters, and chaotic action. Early reviews of the game have been unanimously positive, with GameRant’sRatchet and Clank: Rift Apartreviewstating: “It’s visually striking, mechanically sound and diverse, and it takes advantage of the bells and whistles tied to the new platform.” The game will be the second major PlayStation 5 exclusive to launch this year, withReturnalmarking the first when it hit shelves back in April. It’ll be joined by several other titles throughout the year, includingDeathloop, Kena: Bridge of Spirits,andHorizon Forbidden West.
