One Piece’sprevious chapter was one of Eiichiro Oda’s most divisive chapters in quite a while as Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid finally went all-out against Yonko Big Mom to finish their fights. With Law using his strongest techniques, called Puncture Wille, followed by Kid’s usage of Damned Punk, Big Mom looks to finally be done, and fans awaitOne Piece1040to confirm the result of the fight.
The majority of the previous chapter focused onLaw and Kid’s fight, however, there were other bits sprinkled across the chapter, such as Momonosuke pulling Onigashima away from the Flower Capital and hearing Zunesha’s voice. With all that said, all eyes are onOne Piece1040 and fans await for Oda to answer the biggest question of whether Big Mom is down for good or not.

One Piece 1040: What To Expect From The Chapter
One Piece1040 will most certainly pick up right from where 1039 left off and show the outcome of the fight against Big Mom. Looking at the pattern in which Oda ended the fights on Onigashima, it is quite clear to see that the first few pages will be dedicated to the conclusion of the fight. Oda did this with Jinbe vs Who’s Who, Sanji vs Queen, and even Zoro vs King. Big Mom’s fight will likely not be an exception. After taking an incredible amount of damage already, Big Mom will most definitely be down and might even be completely knocked out following the massive attack from Eustass Kid.Trafalgar Law’s Puncture Willehas most certainly broken her bones beyond repair as a weaker version of the attack, called Shock Wille, broke her arm and her ribs with ease.
Interestingly, Big Mom is also standing right above the hole thatLaw made using his Devil Fruit powerand with Kid’s cannon, she could well go crashing down through the hole and fall in Wano Country. At the same time, it’s interesting to note that if there’s any place that the island of Onigashima can be put, it is the hole that Law managed to create. It is highly likely that Momonosuke will come up with the idea to drag the island to the hole and place it there to avoid having it crash into the ocean or drop on the Flower Capital.

Kid and Law are certain to be exhausted by the end of their fights and will likely collapse in the next chapter, given that both admitted to using awakening as a last resort and it being too draining on their stamina. Meanwhile, the fight between Raizo and Fukurokuju will likely continue just to build more tension as the flames aren’t going out anytime soon. Yamato, on the other hand, might try to combat the Kazenbo and prevent it from making contact with the explosives. Marco could help out in this task as his phoenix flames should have superiority over the flames of Kazenbo.
Most importantly, the focus inOne Piece1040 should now shift to Luffy vs Kaido, as that is the only big fight left on Onigashima now. The next few minutes will see the greatest battle inOne Piecefinally begin and fans will be on the edge of their seats.
One Piece Chapter 1040: End of an Era
With the fall of Big Mom, an era of supremacy for the Yonko is finally coming to an end. Kaido is the only one from her era left, and given that his opponent is Luffy, he’s definitely going down at the end of it. With the fall of two Yonko in the same arc, Luffy will rise to a new level and bring forward a completely new era – possibly one where the concept of the Yonko doesn’t even exist. For that to happen, Oda needs to dive into the main battle of the Wano Country arc and give the fans the much-awaitedfight between Luffy and Kaido.

WhileOne Piecechapter 1040 might mark the beginning of the end for Kaido and Big Mom, at the same time, it’ll pave way for the next generation to rise, starting from Kid and Law. Killer,Zoro, and Sanji have already emerged victoriousin their battles as well, as have the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates. Some other plot points that Oda might touch upon in the upcoming chapter are Izo’s clash with the CP0 agents and Zoro’s meeting with a Shinigami. For the former, it seems likely that Izo will fall due to being severely injured already. Zoro, meanwhile, could be rescued by Franky, given that he can’t move. It could also turn out to be a prank by Brook as he very much resembles a Shinigami and Oda loves his pranks.
One Piece 1040: When Will It Release?
One Pieceis not on break this week, meaning there is going to be a chapter in the upcoming issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. According to the MangaPlus app,One Piece1040 is set to come out on February 13.
