After what seemed like a very long wait for more information aboutOverwatch 2, new details have finally been announced. Among the information released in a recent AMA post was that theOverwatch 2developers plan to overhaul certain aspects. Those same developers said that included making at least one season “more meaningful.”

The talk about the season overhaul comes from a private Reddit AMA. The developers took questions from certain content creators during the session.Overwatchcontent creator Bad Pachimari was one of those that had their inquiries addressed. He put the question and answer on his Twitter account afterward. He explicitly asked ifone ofOverwatch 2’s changeswould be more meaningful seasons. They answered in the affirmative, though didn’t provide a ton of information as to just how they planned on accomplishing that goal.

In the AMA, Scott Mercer said the team is looking at changing seasons “from the ground up.” He added that one of the things they’re looking at changing is how to make the middle of a certain season feel as “exciting” as the beginning or the end. Mercer mentioned changing the length of each season was one potential solution. Some users took that to mean they’d be shortened up in order to make rank matches inside the seasons to have more of an impact.

Mercer also said theOverwatch 2developers have been brainstorminghow to make one particular season more impactful. Specifically, Mercer said the team wants this season to be “remembered and celebrated.” He didn’t elaborate on what season he was talking about or what sort of solutions his team had come up with so far. His comments about brainstorming imply the group is still in the relatively early stages of that planning.

While the developers haven’t been specific about what the changes to overhaul the season rank system might be, a ton of other changes to specific game play are already out there. That includes a revamping of abilities forcharacters inOverwatch 2like Mei and Winston.
