ManyOverwatch 2players are voicing their displeasure over the game’s first Halloween event, particularly the skin prices when compared to other free-to-play games likeFortnite. The Junkenstein’s Revenge Halloween event of the originalOverwatchtitle now has an extension to its name with theWrath of the Bride inOverwatch 2which comes with its own set of challenges for players to accomplish for a mix of rewards.Overwatch 2fans from across social media have stated that they are not happy about the Halloween event skin prices, with some creating side-by-side comparisons of skins fromFortnitethat cost less than the Activision Blizzard cosmetics. Halloween Terror 2022 and its Halloween activities run until November 8, and the expected gameplay rotation hasn’t caught the ire of fans anticipating the Halloween event as the paid skins have. With the originalOverwatch’s Halloween event, these players could unlock some Halloween-themed skins in loot boxes which they could acquire in a number of ways, and the free-to-play system ofOverwatch 2has some players missing the controversial feature.RELATED:Overwatch 2 Image Shows Just How Bleak the Free Battle Pass Rewards AreAlthoughOverwatch 2has only justbegun Halloween Terror 2022, eagle-eyes players have noted that the roughly $44 Defenders of the Castle bundle has an adjacent discount percentage that suggests even higher regular prices may be on the way. The $44 bundle comes with Gargoyle Winston, Flying Dutchman Sigma, Dragon Symmetra, and Coffin Bastion which were available in older events through RNG. Ignoring this expensive bundle, there’s also a Witch Kiriko bundle available for about $26, and a standalone skin for the Junker Queen which will set players back roughly $19.
TheOverwatch 2in-game shopoffers Halloween-themed skins for between 2,000Overwatchcoins to 3,000, but one player has suggested that 1,900 coins would more accurately reflect the value of a skin. Not entirely discouraging the community, by logging intoOverwatch 2between now and the conclusion of Halloween Terror, players will unlock the Reaper Legendary skin called Cursed Captain which turns the damage-dealing hero into a pirate ghost. Beyond playing the event-exclusive game modes,Overwatch 2fans can also unlock the Werewolf Winston spray and skin from previous years by watching Twitch content for four hours.
While someOverwatch 2players have lamented the fact that Witch Kiriko and Executioner Junker Queen are so expensive, others have pointed out that even the old skins cost a lot. Reddit user TopGeezer50 recently shared their comparison of theFortnitezombie Halloween superhero customizable skin next to the more expensive Executioner Junker Queen which offers much fewer possibilities of self-expression to highlight the problem withOverwatch 2’s free-to-play model.
Overwatch 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
