Summary

A new trailer forPersona 5 Tacticagives a brief tease of one of its newest characters, Toshiro Kasukabe, who is going to join the Phantom Thieves as a Persona user. This is another spin-off of Atlus' popular JRPG, where the Phantom Thieves are brought into a new world, building upon the themes of rebellion with a revolution taking place in a new world. This time,Persona 5 Tacticahas a brand-new setting inspired by the French Revolution, where they face off against an enemy faction known as the Legionnaires.

The Phantom Thieves are joined bytwo new characters introduced inPersona 5 Tactica, Erina and Toshiro Kasukabe. Erina is the leader of the Rebel Corps, along with essentially the game’s central protagonist, where she forms an alliance with the thieves to fight back against the Legionnaires. Toshiro Kasukabe is another major character who gets mixed up in the game’s plot, being a member of Japan’s National Diet and is slated to be the next prime minister. The trailers that feature him place a big emphasis on him being a non-combatant and more grounded character, where he was captured and imprisoned sometime before the game’s events. The latest trailer shows a surprising twist - which shows Toshiro awakening to his Persona.

The third trailer forPersona 5 Tacticashows off a brand-new kingdom, where it is modeled after a school. However, the “students” enrolled in this school seem to be robots, with their leader being a giant one. This trailer sees Toshiro and Erina question their motives, leaning a little into what to expect of the game’s plot and their characterization. Later on in this video, it shows that the Phantom Thieves got captured at some point, with Toshiro being the only person free. When Toshiro resolves to fight back for the rebellion, he is covered in a blue flame, which is the visual sign of his Persona awakening.

Once the flames die down, fans are given a brief look at Toshiro’s Persona and its design, having a star on its forehead and ringed yellow, orange, and red eyes. There appears to be white hair and other make-up that can be seen around its face as well. Based on past games, Toshiro is likely to have his ownstylish Phantom Thief attiremuch like the other members, with the aesthetics and motifs of what it’s named after.

Alongside the tactical RPG gameplay and story beats, the trailer gives a short look into the “Repaint Your Heart” DLC campaign, which features both Goro Akechi andPersona 5 Royal’s Kasumi Yoshizawa joining Joker in a separate story. There is a young voice that is heard from a painting, with all three members of the party falling into a mysterious portal. The trailer ends on a shot of a woman wearing a gas mask, while paint rains behind them. Whatrole Akechi and Yoshizawa will play inPersona 5 Tacticais still mostly a mystery, along with how the DLC gels withPersona 5’s overall canon.
