Summary
While the Johto region of the vastPokemonworld is home to many iconic spots, one creative gamer has managed to recreate the entirety of Johto’s largest city, Goldenrod City, in theirMinecraftworld. With the Johto region first being introduced toPokemonplayers with the original Gen 2 games all the way back in 1999, it’s no wonder that some ofPokemon Gold and Silver’s many classic locations and creatures have long been the subjects of so many fan art projects from the franchise’s massive community.
Though the core-seriesPokemongames have changed drastically in many ways over the years, even the latest titles in the franchise,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, abide by many of the traditions and tropes established by the very firstPokemongames. Towns and cities represent one such element that has always contributed a crucial factor to thePokemonexperience that fans are familiar with, with most cities across every region in the expansivePokemonworld playing home to a gym that players will need to challenge and overcome in order to progress and grow stronger.Gyms are just as big a feature inPokemonScarlet and Violetas they were in the originalPokemon Red and Bluetitles nearly three decades ago.

What Goldenrod City Looks Like in Minecraft
On top of just being the places to find gyms, the manytowns and cities seen across thePokemongamesalso tend to offer all sorts of useful features such as shops, Pokemon Centers, and often some helpful NPCs. One creative player known as segtendoppcc42 has recreatedPokemon Gold and Silver’s iconic Goldenrod City in full detail inMinecraft, with the fan-favorite Johto location complete with its department store, game corner, and of course, its radio tower as well. This isn’t the first timePokemonfans have brought a location from the games to life inMinecraft, though Goldenrod City in particular has been the focus of many fan projects in the past, no doubt due to the location’s presence in countless childhood memories.
Many members of thePokemoncommunity have taken a particular interest in the Gen 2 games recently in light of leaks suggesting that an upcomingPokemontitle may be taking players back to the Johto region. A few creative fans have even taken it upon themselves to design their own fanmade concepts of what new Pokemon might look like in a futurePokemon Legendsgame set in Johto.

While there are manyrumors circulating around thePokemonfandomwith regard to what the year ahead might look like for the franchise, nothing has yet been confirmed. Though The Pokemon Company’s official Twitter account has recently teased fans with posts themed around the Gen 5 games, players will have to wait until thePokemonshowcase at the end of the month for official information on what to expect from the franchise in the future.
