Pokemon GOis a game that stands proud in its unique and addictive gameplay loop. Capturing the attention of most of the globe upon its initial release in 2016, the locational importance of the use of augmented reality withinPokemon GOis ultimately responsible for the game’s roaring success.
A fan-favorite aspect of this locational focus is the existence of region-specific Pokemon available for capture to lucky players. However, with the rapid pace at which new Pokemon get added to the game, it is more than easy enough for players to lose track of what Pokemon are specific to which regions.

Kanto Region
TheKanto Region was the first region to be implemented with the launch ofPokemon GO, and saw the first regional-specific Pokemon be launched into the game world. In total, there were four Pokemon introduced with Kanto, each only unlockable by players within a specific part of the world.
Johto Region
The second region added to the gamewas the Johto Region, which brought with it new region-specific Pokemon. In total, only two new region-locked Pokemon were added.
Hoenn Region
With the introduction of the Hoenn Region came a fair amount of new region-specific Pokemon. In total, nine region-locked Pokemon were added.
Sinnoh Region
Another wave of region-specifics were added with theSinnoh Region batch of Pokemon. In total, eight were introduced.
Unova Region
Many region-specific Pokemon were addedwith the Unova Region. In all, 10 were introduced.
Kalos Region
Only a few region-specifics wereadded with the Kalos region. There are four in total.
Alola Region
The most recent regionadded is the Alola Region. Only one region-specific was added with this region.
