Summary
Niantic has increased the storage capacity inPokemon GOfor both Pokemon and items ahead of Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global. This change comes five months after the last storage increase in February 2024, whereby the maximum capacity of a Trainer’s Pokemon storage went from 7,300 to 7,800 and bag capacity increased from 6,300 to 6,800. Now, Niantic has upped those numbers to accommodate the new creatures set to be added toPokemon GOduring the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global event.
During the event, over 70 Pokemon will appear, including several costumed Pokemon and event-exclusive variants. Trainers can join in on the fun at no cost from anywhere in the world, butthose who purchase an event ticketwill receive special bonuses and even an encounter with the Mythical Pokemon Marshadow. Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global begins July 13 at 10:00 a.m local time and ends on July 14 at 6:00 p.m local time.

On Twitter, the officialPokemon GOaccount confirmed that both the Pokemon storage limit and bag capacity would be increased by 500 slots each ahead of Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global. That means Pokemon storage now maxes out at 8,300 Pokemon and bag capacity reaches its limit at 7,300 items. Trainers reaching their storage limit on both Pokemon and items has been an ongoing issue inPokemon GO, as there are hundreds of species to encounter, includingregional variants and those found in certain hemispheres, Shiny Pokemon, and event-exclusives, such as Detective Pikachu’s brief appearance during the feature film’s theatrical release.
New Pokemon GO Pokemon Storage and Bag Capacity Limits
The timing couldn’t be better for Niantic to drop a storage increase, but those living in Sendai, Madrid, or New York City may have preferred the change to drop ahead of the city-specific portions of Pokemon GO Fest 2024, which took place from May 30 to June 2 in Japan, June 14 to June 16 in Spain, and July 5 to July 7 in the US. In addition to event-exclusive rewards, Pokemon GO Fest 2024: Global addsthe Psychic-type Legendary Pokemon Necrozmawith its Dusk Wings and Dawn Mane variations, ample Ultra Beast raids, and other rare Pokemon like the mysterious Unown.
Niantic has even more in store for Trainers in July, asPokemon GOwill host several additional events. On July 21,Pokemon GOwill celebrate Trainers far and wide with its monthly Community Day, along with Raid Hours happening throughout the month. The next Raid Hour will commence on July 12 with a chance to catch the Bug/Fighting-type Buzzwole, while July 17 grants Trainers an opportunity to catch the Gen 1 Legendary Pokemon Articuno. A three-part event calledUltra Unlock begins with Ultra Unlock Part 1: Better Together, which will allow players to encounter new creatures, partake in new Timed Research, and utilize unique event bonuses.
