Two worlds collide asPokemon GOis finally making its way to thePokemon Trading Card Game. A release date has finally been revealed for the collaborative expansion sets initiallly announced in February.ThePokemon Trading Card Gamewas first published 1996 and essentially gives players the chance to battle each other outside of the video game with cards representing the Pokemon, items, and other trainer characters.Pokemon GOis an augmented reality mobile version of thePokemonvideo games that was developed by Niantic and released in 2016.RELATED:Man Who Used COVID-19 Funds on $57,000 Charizard Card Will Go to PrisonOn Twitter, the official account for thePokemon Trading Card Gamerevealed a release date of July 1st, 2022 for the expansion based onPokemon GO.The expansion will include a Team Collection, Premium Collection, and Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box Plus. A link to thePokemonwebsite posted with the tweet announces that further releases for this expansion will come at a later date, but the first wave will become on July 1st. It also says that booster packs for this expansion will only be available inPokemon TCG: Pokemon GOMini Tin,Pokemon TCG: Pokemon GOCollection,Pokemon TCG: Pokemon GOSpecial Collection, and more.
This expansion is sure to bring those fans ofPokemon GOto thePokemon Trading Card Game. Expansions of thePokemonTrading Card Gameare always welcome, as are new players. Both games have been booming in popularity lately, especially withPokemon GOintroducing the Alolan Region recently, so this expansion could prove beneficial to bothPokemonproperties.
The card game version ofPokemondoes come with a bit of a learning curve, but as long as players know thePokemonbattle mechanics well enough from the video games, it should be a smooth transition.Niantic has also been working on its own non-Pokemongame as of late which could be a reason it would want to attract more players through this expansion and the same goes for thePokemon Trading Card Game.
Newexpansions for thePokemon Trading Card Gamedo tend to be lacking in quality every once in a while. There is always the risk of wasting money and cards not being worth the money paid. That being said, there are usually at least one or two rare cards in expansions like this, and bringingPokemon GOinto aPokemon Trading Card Gameexpansion could bring something a little newer to the table with all that the mobile game has to offer as aPokemongame in general.
