Summary

APokemonfan has recently given Poochyena and Mightyena human forms, completely revamping the design of these Dark-type creatures. Fans of the franchise have been reimagining Pokemon since the 90s, and this leads tocreativePokemonfan artthat often looks stunning.

Poochyena and its evolution appeared for the first time inPokemon Ruby and Sapphire. These creatures resemble a mixture of a dog and a hyena and belong to the Dark type, originally introduced one generation earlier. After its debut, Poochyena appeared in most mainline games of the series, and it seems that it willbe present inScarlet and Violet’s Teal Mask DLC, according to recent leaks.

Now,Pokemonfan Endifi has turned their love for Poochyena and Mightyena into fan art by crafting human versions of these monsters. The human Poochyena is called Grae, and its design resembles a female dark elf due to its dark grey skin and pointy ears. It’s wearing a coat inspired by Poochyena’s fur, has the same eye color, and uses a red pendant, which is inspired by Poochyena’s nose. The human form of Mightyena is called Yena. Aside from wearing a white dress and black fur, the character has a tiara that is similar to Mightyena’s ears. Overall, the design is reminiscent of the popular101 Dalmatiansvillain Cruella de Vil.

Endifi is a pretty prolific creator in thePokemoncommunity, and Poochyena and Mightyena are among the artist’s first works with third-generation creatures. Before now, the artist was redesigning Pokemon of the second generation, creating human forms for Celebi, Ho-oh, Lugia, Larvitar, Suicune, Entei, Raikou, and others. The human Raikou art, specifically, stands out among these recent examples due to how well it meshes a unique and new human design inspired by a warrior while still maintaining the most important aspects of Raikou intact.

This prolific creator is not the only one doing amazing art inspired by Poochyena and Mightyena, though, and another interesting example surfaced a few months ago. Previously, a fan gavea new evolution to Mightyena called Grimyena. According to its creator, this new version would be an evolution that would happen at level 31. The new design really increased the hyena aspects of the Pokemon, while toning down its dog-like appearance, and it succeeds by making it look more feral than its predecessor.
