Pokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC will give fans the chance to catch a brand-new Pokemon, though many details surrounding the creature remain a mystery. This new Pokemon doesn’t even have a name yet, but it was featured in the very first episode of the newPokemonanime series, which notablyleaves Ash and Pikachu behindto follow a new cast of characters as they adventure through the Paldea region.

The newPokemonanime series, titledPokemon Horizons, recently premiered its first episodes, kicking off the adventures ofnew protagonist Liko. Liko has a mysterious pendant that at one point lets her make contact with a new turtle-like Pokemon that looks like a pre-evolution for Terapagos, one of the new Legendary Pokemon that was previously confirmed for thePokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC.

Following this new Pokemon’s debut in thePokemonanime series, The Pokemon Company teased a connection between it and Terapagos. According to the new information, this Pokemon can “crystallize the energy in its body to form a protective shield” and it can “assume a dormant state” by pulling itself into its shell, not unlike a real-life turtle. More specific details about the Pokemon, like its name, typing, etc., were not revealed, but it was said that it will be featured in the upcomingPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC, so fans should find out more later this year.

For those that haven’t been keeping up with the post-launch plans forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, they’re quite ambitious. Besides thenew raid events regularly hosted inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, fans also have paid DLC to look forward to calledThe Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, which is being split into two parts. The first part is calledThe Teal Mask, themed after new Legendary Pokemon Ogerpon, and scheduled for release in fall 2023.

The second part of thePokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC is calledThe Indigo Disk, and it will be available in winter 2023. This DLC is themed after thepreviously mentioned Terapagos, so it’s likely that more information about this new Pokemon will have to wait until then. It does seem like the new Pokemon could potentially evolve into Terapagos, though it’s a rare thing for Legendary Pokemon to evolve.

Since this Pokemon wasfirst revealed via thePokemon Horizonsanime series, perhaps more info will come in the TV series before theScarlet and VioletDLC, but that’s just speculation at this time. For now,Pokemonfans can continue training their Pokemon inScarlet and Violetwhile they wait for the DLC to drop later this year.
