The first three new Pokemon revealed forPokemon Scarlet and Violetwere the new starters that players will get to choose from at the start of their new adventure: the Grass-type Pokemon Sprigatito, the Fire-type Pokemon Fuecoco, and the Water-type Pokemon Quaxly. Two trailers have been released forPokemon Scarlet and Violetso far, but Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokemon Company have yet to reveal much more about the starters.

At this point, thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter evolutions remain a mystery, though there are many theories and fan art imaging what they could end up looking line. When it comes to thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter evolutions, of particular concern is Sprigatito, as manyPokemonfans have expressed worry that Nintendo will turn the cat-like Pokemon into a bipedal creature with its evolution line. And unfortunately, if the latest leak is to be believed, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

This new leak comes from Riddler Khu, who has accurately leakedPokemon Scarlet and Violetnews in the past, usually in the form of cryptic teases and riddles. Someone on Twitter asked Riddler Khu ifSprigatito’s evolutionwould be bipedal, to which they responded, “It stands up.” It’s unclear if Sprigatito will become bipedal with its first evolution or of it will wait until it hits its final form, but fans will find out later this year.

While manyPokemonfans may not care ifSprigatito becomes bipedal, there are many others that don’t want to see it happen. It really boils down toPokemonfans feeling like quadrupedal starters becoming bipedal has become cliche at this point. This trend has been especially apparent in recent generations, with Fennekin, Litten, and Tepig all becoming bipedal by the time they reach their final evolutions.

Just like manyPokemonfans are tired of seeing starter Pokemon become bipedal, there are those who are also tired ofstarter Pokemon evolving to be Fighting-type Pokemon. It seems safe to say thatPokemonfans are wanting to see a bit more variety and creativity when it comes to starter evolutions, and so it will be interesting to see if they ultimately get that with thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter evolutions.

It remains to be seen whenPokemonfans will get to see the starter evolutions for themselves. It’s possible that they will be revealed ahead of launch in another trailer, but it’s also possible that fans will have to wait for thePokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease dateto roll around before they’ll see the starter evolutions.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetlaunch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
