For those who haven’t seen much ofRE:Verse, the game’s a multiplayer third-person shooter featuring several ofResident Evil’smost iconic characters. The core crux of the experience sees players run around an arena fighting five other players, starting as human survivors such as Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Hunk. When a player is killed, they transform into one of the series main antagonists, withNemesis, Mr. X, Jack Baker, and more all joining the fray with a range of powerful moves. The player with the most points at the end of the round wins the game.

RE:Verseis intended to be a supplementary experience toResident Evil Village, which is also set to launch on May 7. The eighth iteration of the franchise will utilizeResident Evil 7’sunique first-person perspective in a whole new setting, dropping returning protagonist Ethan Winters into an ominous village inhabited by vampires, werewolves, witches, and more. It looks to be heavily inspired byResident Evil 4,reintroducing merchants, intricate inventory management, and an expansive setting, while also offering a more action-centric take on the series compared to its claustrophobic, horror-focused predecessor. The game is gettingits own slate of timed demos over the coming weeks, with the next arriving on April 24 exclusively for PlayStation players.

Resident Evil Re:Verseis slated to hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 7.
