The upcoming live-action reboot,Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City, will be receiving reshoots according to one of its leads. This is fresh off the recent release ofResident Evil 8as well as the new trailer of the upcomingResident EvilNetflix film which will release this summer.
News of the reshoots came via a Twitch stream where one of the movie’s lead actors, Robbie Amell said, “I’m actually back in Toronto forResident Evilreshoots, so I’m back in Chris Redfield mode.“Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon Citywill reboot the previousResident Evilfilms that starred Milla Jovovich as series newcomer, Alice. This new upcoming movie will bemore true to the video games' storylineand appears to be following the first two games as they were set during a closer time period.

Resident Evil 2and3both took place at the same time at different locations whileResident Evilwas a separate isolated incident at a different time and date. This is important as the cast in this film includes Leon S. Kennedy as well as Claire Redfield who don’t make their appearance until the second installment. This would mean that the creators are potentially making a new plot or amending some of the details for the sake of the film’s storytelling.
One possible scenario is to have Claire and Leon show up to the mansion instead of the Raccoon City Police Department (R.C.P.D.) like they did in the second game. Another possibility is to tell the stories ofResident Evil 1 & 2congruently so that fans get to see live-action versions of the video games but in a closer time frame than what the games did.
It would be a welcome addition to seethe tyrant, Mr. X, fromResident Evil 2show up in the film. He was widely popular amongst the internet during the games release as he chased and followed the player around R.C.P.D. relentlessly. Hearing his footsteps echo around the dark halls always send chills down the spines of gamers. Mr. X was one of thedefining features ofResident Evil 2and arguably is the component that gave the game its most intense moments. He was an indestructible enemy that followed players through every room that didn’t have a save station and can kill them in only a few hits.
Many are wondering if the movie will be able to capture the dread of the games and rightfully so as the previous films felt more on the action side. There’s also the argument to be made for new fans who don’t know the series well. They need to figure out “how much is too much” for newcomers to take in and be able to follow along without costing the attention of itssupportive fan base.
