An insider has claimed that Xbox is considering bringing theGears of Warfranchise to PlayStation in the future. The excitingGears of Warnews comes after recent claims that additional Xbox franchises might be coming to the rival console as well.

Recently, several insiders claimed thatXbox is planning to make a huge strategic changeby releasing some of its biggest exclusives on PlayStation, such asStarfield,Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,Sea of Thieves, and more. Longtime insider Jeff Grubb claimed that Xbox is considering bringingGears of Warto PlayStation, but did not claim that Xbox has finalized this decision. He did not specify whether the company is considering bringing everyGears of Wargame to PlayStation or only future releases. Grubb added that Xbox was previously planning to announce its new cross-platform strategy at the end of February, but now that multiple leaks have made it out, the company could make the announcement much sooner. This would be a drastic change in Xbox’s strategy, with some fans worrying about the console’s longevity once PlayStation owners have access to both platforms' best titles. Despite the consistent leaks surrounding the subject, the news has yet to be confirmed, so this is still speculation at this point.

Gears of War Might Be Coming to PlayStation in the Future

If the leaks regardingStarfieldand other popular Xbox exclusives coming to PlayStation turn out to be true, it would not be hard to believe thatGears of Warwould make the jump as well. The legendary Xbox franchise still has plenty of fans, but it has now been over four years since a mainlineGears of Wargame released. However, signs indicate thatGears of War 6’s development is moving aheadat full steam.

Gears of War 6releasing in 2025 or later would create the longest gap between mainlineGears of Wargames since the franchise began. After recent claims, it’s possible that the anticipated follow-up game will see a widespread launch across multiple platforms. In addition to that possibility, fans can daydream about thesimilarly unconfirmedGears of War Collection. Recent rumors claimed that the collection has entered its playtesting phase and would presumably include upgraded versions of the classicGears of Wargames.

In slightly more disappointing news regarding Xbox’s future, an established leaker recentlyclaimed thatCall of Dutywon’t be coming to Game Passafter all. After Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard in 2023, many believed thatCall of Dutywould eventually be added to the subscription service along with Activision Blizzard’s other games, but it appears that may not be the case for the popular first-person shooter.
