Rare showcasingSea of Thievesduring this past weekend’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase was expected. The live service pirate game remains very popular and Rare continues to robustly support it with new content. Few could have expected Rare to announce a partnership with Disney’sPirates of the Caribbean, however. Yet not only is thePirates of the Caribbeancrossover real, but it’s also going to launch soon. Proof of that was shared via a newSea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Lifegameplay trailer released on Thursday.

Thefirst trailer forSea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Lifewas meant to reveal thePirates of the Caribbeancrossover and the inclusion of Jack Sparrow, among other official characters. It was a teaser and hype trailer made up mostly of in-game cinematics. The new trailer forSea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Lifeteases a variety of the update’s gameplay scenarios that players will experience along with the new DLC’s storyline.

The newSea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Lifegameplay trailer is shorter than the announcement trailer, but teases some exciting content. Players are shown exploring exciting new environments, battling dangerous new enemies, and dancing around the machinations of thelegendary pirate Jack Sparrowhimself. A Pirate’s Life may not introduce any core gameplay, but it does look like a series of unique encounters.

WhatSea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Lifetruly looks to offer is something special and unique even among the diverse contentSea of Thievesalready offers. The mix of story sequences, quests, characters, and boss fights could be one of the biggest storylines inSea of Thievesyet. The additional factor of havingofficial Disney characterscrossing over withSea of Thievesto tell aPirates of the Caribbeanstory unavailable anywhere else only enhances an already interesting addition toSea of Thieves.

While there’s been no official announcement or even a hint so, theSea of Thieves: A Pirate’s LifeDLC also opens the door to future content. It could hinge on how popular the DLC is, but if it’s popular it would a great opportunity for bothRare and Disneyto continue telling pirate stories outside of the franchise’s movies. Of course, Rare may not wantSea of Thievesto be known as thePirates of the Caribbeangame, but if it keeps theSea of Thievesuserbase coming back then it may be worth it.

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Lifeis confirmed to be available as a free update for those who already own or have access to thebaseSea of Thievesgame. It can be played alone or with a regularSea of Thievescrew. Better yet, it’s going to be released in less than a week, as its launch date is set for June 22.

Sea of Thievesis available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
