Sifuwas announced earlier this year during the February Sony State of Play and is developed by indie studio SloClap, the developer behind Absolver, an online melee multiplayer title. Unlike Absolver though,Sifuwill be a single-player-focused martial arts video gamethat has players control a protagonist that seemingly ages every time they die.
Although originally slated to come out sometime in 2021,Sifuwas recently delayed to February 2022in order to avoid crunch and the release of a lower-quality product. Although this news sadden some players that were excited to get their hands on the PlayStation console exclusive, it looks as though some good news is coming out soon.

On the officialSifuTwitter account, the studio announced thatSifuwill have a big and exciting announcement about the title next week. Along with that message, the post also showed a few seconds of gameplay for the game. Interestingly, the word choice used in this message was very specific to include “big announcement.” Judging from this, it’s more than likely the announcement next week won’t just be another trailer of the game. Additionally, the studio shared the announcement of the delay back in July, only four months ago so it’s not very unlikely that the title will have an earlier release date. If it does, it’s more likely that it won’t be more than a month.
Another exciting possibility would be the release of a physical version.Kena Bridge of Spiritswhich initiallylaunched as digital-only will be releasing a physical copyof the game next week. It’s possible this could happen toSifuwhich is currently digital-only.
That being said, it’s more likely that a possible demo forSifuis on the horizon that will give fans an idea of how the game will play and feel. Apart from the combat inSifuand the general premise of aging when dying, there isn’t really a whole lot known about the game.Sifu’scombat looks slick and smooth, but some players would prefer to get try out the title to have an idea of how good it plays.
Apart from those two theories, there are also some optimistic fans that hope forSifuto be coming to Xbox consoles as well. Currently,Sifuis only releasing on PlayStation consoles and PC leaving out those on Xbox consoles. It’s not known whether or not this is a limited exclusive, but some believe a possible announcement might be made soon in regards to Xbox support down the line.
Sifuis set to release on August 07, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
