Sonic Frontiershas had fans talking throughout June due to the many reveals the game has seen this month. As part of therecent Nintendo Direct Mini, anotherSonic Frontierstrailer has been shared that officially reveals new gameplay elements.

Sonic Frontiershas kept its marketing rather vague up to this point. While players were given the first gameplay trailers of the game earlier this month, they focused on parts of what players could expect rather than the full picture. This had left fans confused, but now a new trailer has arrived that sheds light on other important parts of the title.

During Nintendo’s partner showcase on June 28, players first got a look at key artwork forSonic Frontiers, showcasing Sonic running through the Starfall Islands. The trailer that followed shortly afterward began the same way before revealing the cyberspace levels that were teasedfollowing Summer Game Festand the playable demo its “Play Days” in-person event had for select attendees.

In the trailer, two cyberspace levels were shown. One of these levels is made up of twisting, sprawling roadways, while the other one seems to be replicating the iconic Green Hill Zone.Frontiers’latest trailer also reveals that players gather keys to progress. Previous hands-on impressions have stated that players earn the Chaos Emeralds by using these items to unlock vaults.

Players also received a glimpse of who is presumably the game’s villain. This character appears like a little human girl, and has been said in a press release to be known as “Sage.” The press release has also stated that Sage wishes for Sonic to leave the Starfall Islands, even though Sonic is looking for Tails and Amy, who have vanished asSonic Frontiers’story begins.

Many fans have expressed looking forward toSonic Frontiersthanks to this new action-packed trailer, no doubt in part to how lackluster previous gameplay showcases were to series loyalists. Considering this trailer is most likely using footage from the Nintendo Switch version, it also looks to be running fairly well despite Sonic Team openly saying it was focusing more on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S releases. Due to this, fans may want to wait for later press releases detailingFrontiers’Switch specs, aspreviousSonicgames on Switchhave had limited performance compared to other versions.
