Brellas have many different applications. Some are more hardy, built for defense and slow-firing but powerful shots. Other Brellas, like the Undercover Brella, are more aligned toward fighting on the frontlines, protecting objectives, and splatting enemies with clever tactics. Every Brella is different, which is why we’ll highlight their strengths, differences, weaknesses, and kits below.

Best Builds For Brellas

Splat Brella

The Splat Brella is the standard Brella weapon forSplatoon 3. It comes with no significant drawbacks or advantages, making it the best Brella to start out with for players new to the weapon type. It shoots medium-sized shots at a relatively medium range, making it great as a mixed attacker. Players can use the Splat Brella for attack or defense, making it a mainly frontline weapon. Because of its natural range, the Splat Brella isn’t very good for fighting at a distance, but can still intimidate with its detaching brella end that launches forward after holding the shoot button for just a few seconds.

The Splat Brella comes with an advantageous sub-weapon, the Sprinkler, which can help make up forits relatively low inking potential. Because most Brella’s fire in a single straight line, it can be harder for users to ink a massive amount of turf throughout the game. Items like Sprinklers help make up for this deficiency when used strategically. Asa special, the standard Brella uses Triple Inkstrike, giving teeth to this otherwise low-damage weapon.

Get the timing right and players can power up with much-needed offense using the Inkstrike’s torrents from above. Both special and sub weapon help make the standard Brella a great all-around weapon with virtually no apparent weaknesses when used correctly. With abilities like Ink Saver, players can take advantage of the Brella’s high-damage shots, going in the ink less often to reload. Run Speed Up can also be helpful when wanting to launch or defend with the Brella.

Tenta Brella

The Tenta Brella is the hard-hitting class within the Brella family. With a wide tent and hard, long-reaching shots, the Tenta Brella is a force to be reckoned with, even at a distance. Suppose enemies manage to corner a Tenta Brella though. In that case, the firing rate on it is not fast enough to reliably win in close combat situations, which iswhy players need to strategize when using this weapon. The Tenta Brella offers just as much offense as it does defense, firing a powerful shot from behind a generously wide umbrella. The umbrella on the Tenta Brella can tank more hits than the standard Bella, making it a formidable weapon for objective-based games, such as Clam Blitz and Rainmaker modes.

As a sub-weapon the Tenta Brella hasthe Squid Beacon. While this sub-weapon acts as a non-offensive sub, Squid Beacons are useful for strategy and objective fulfillment. With proper use of a Squid Beacon and the Tenta Brella’s defenses, a player could rally teammates to a weak point in the enemy line, or organize a flank toward an objective. The Tenta Brella also comes with the Ink Vac as a Special. The Ink Vac is another tactical special that, while it does not do much damage head-on, can really turn the tide of a battle if used properly. Using an Ink Vac on a powerful special or group of enemies can neutralize the situation quickly. Plus, if a player sucks up a lot of ink at once, they can surprise their enemies with the charged shot at the end, scoring more than one splat at a time.

Undercover Brella

The Undercover Brella is the outlier between the Splat Brella and the Tenta Brella. The unique feature that the Undercover Brella does not share with the other two standard Brellas is the fact that the Undercover brella does not detach. While it can be destroyed, the Undercover Brella strategy is slightly different from the other two Brellas currently inSplatoon 3. The goal of the Undercover Brella is to be more aggressive, and instead of trying to use the Brella as an offensive wall, use it as a defensive shield for as long as possible. That being said, the Undercover Brella does not have an impressive range, making it a mid-range and short-range weapon most of the time.

While it isn’t the most offensive sub in the world, players can use the Ink Mine’s three-placement limit to zone off areas during a battle. If players are playing objective-based modes, such as Splat Zones, the combination of Ink Mines and defense from the Undercover Brella can help spur a tactical victory with the right team. For a special, the Undercover Brella features the Reefslider. This incredibly potent and offensive Special is great for making enemy players back off, and provides some teeth for Undercover Brella users to show if the enemies get too close.
