EM, or electromagnetic damage inStarfield, is likely the one among the three damage types that new players will misunderstand off the bat, or even mix up with energy damage. There are certain weapons in the game, like the Novablast Disruptor, that can seriously impair the player and enemies.

Fortunately, there are ways to mitigate this annoyance by focusing on good EM Damage Resistance. It’s definitely not a priority stat when it comes to spacesuits, given that EM damage isn’t all that common compared to physical for example, but the stat should be as high as possible—if players can afford it. The best offense is a good defense, and with that, here’s whichStarfieldspacesuits have the best EM Damage Resistance.
The 10 Starborn suits will not be considered for this ranking, as they consistently rank above all other suits.

Honorable Mentions
This list is still a work in progress, and not all spacesuits have been included. Here are the suits that will be added later:
7Mantis Spacesuit
At the bottom end of the EM resistance values is the odd and unique Mantis Spacesuit, acquired from completing the Mantis questline. Hate it or love it, this spacesuit does pack a punch, and with a commendable 100 points of resistance against EM paired with its other good damage resistance stats, it’s hard to argue against it.
The Mantis quest can be started by picking up a note from a random enemy’s body (likely a Spacer), hinting towards a hidden treasure on a faraway planet. It’s also the quest where players can hope to find the Razorleaf ship.

6Mercury Spacesuit
Despite being in an exhibition hall on Earth of all places, the Mercury Spacesuit just keeps on giving when it comes to its damage resistance stats. This spacesuit is very good in all three categories, with ENGY Damage Resistance being the highest. Still, a good 100 that puts it in the same spot as the Mantis suit is not too bad, either.

Look for this suit at NASA’s old headquarters on Earth, accessibleduring the Constellation’smain quest. The Mercury Spacesuit is in the exhibition hall along with other relics, inside a mannequin display case.
5Experimental Nishina Spacesuit
One shouldn’t underestimate the Experimental Nishina Spacesuit. It might not have the razzle and dazzle of some of the other suits listed here but does have incredibly nice stats and effects compared to some of the other spacesuits here.Complete the Entangled main quest at the Nishina research station to earn it.
Plus, its 105 EM Damage Resistance is a nice bonus. It also does well in terms of ENGY Damage Resistance but suffers a bit when it comes to PHYS Damage Resistance, which might turn off some players from trying it out.

4Mark I Spacesuit
The Constellation is hiding one of the nicest early-game suits in its very basement:the Mark I Spacesuit. While there are some iterations of it that can be found in the wild, the one in the basement of the Lodge is the easiest to get as soon as possible—provided players can deal with the Master-level lock, or snatch it through the crack of the display case.
The Mark I Spacesuit has great overall stats and a surprisingly high 128 EM Damage Resistance. While in Jemison, make sure to try and pick it up.

3Mercenary Spacesuit
On to the top three of the damage resistance suits, the ones for bounty hunters, mercs and trackers of all kinds consistently rank the highest in sheer defense stats. The Mercenary Spacesuit dishes out similar numbers to the Mark I, but it might be easier to find or acquire depending on how much money or luck players have early on.

Check vendor inventories for this spacesuit, as there’s a chance it might make an appearance fairly commonly. If not, adventuring through structures and POIs should eventually yield either a base version or a refined version of this suit.
2Trackers Alliance Spacesuit
The Trackers Alliance is full of hardened people chasing after those who have a bounty, and as such, they need a good defense. In terms of EM Damage Resistance, though, the suit is equal to the Mark I and Mercenary Spacesuits. So, whichever the player finds first doesn’t really matter—or depends on the other stats and the player’s preferences.
Similarly to the two other top damage resistance suits, the Trackers Alliance one can be found in the inventory of several vendors aroundthe galaxy’s settled systems, but can also drop randomly as loot in just about any procedurally generated location.

1Bounty Hunter Spacesuit
No doubt a fan favorite already, the Bounty Hunter Spacesuit tops over the two other highest damage resistance suits in the EM category. Even so, many might still prioritize it over the two others despite lower PHYS and ENGY stats because of how good it looks.
At 136 EM Damage Resistance, players won’t ever have to worry about electromagnetic disruption of any kind. At this stage, only the Starborn suitswill rank above it.
