ATwitchstreamer has shaved off his head hair and eyebrows as part of a subathon, only to later find out the reason for getting him to do so was a bit of a cruel trick. The unfortunate event left the streamer visibly upset, going so far as to debate whether or not he wanted to finish the stream altogether. For those who may be unaware, Twitch subathons are live broadcast marathon events where streamers continuously broadcast for an extended period, usually 24 hours or more, with the objective usually revolving around how long the stream can go for. Those who donate or sub to the stream can usually have some sort of direct interaction with the creator, leading to high levels of audience engagement. Popular YouTuber andTwitch streamer Kai Cenat recently held a massive 30-day subathon, dubbed the ‘Mafiathon.‘RELATED:Twitch CEO Comments on xQc’s Massive Kick DealTheTwitchstreamer in question is named Lacy, who appears to primarily stream the ever-popularFortnite. Lacy had listed several incentives for viewers to donate Bits, Twitch’s form of currency that is purchased with real-world money. One of the biggest goals was reaching 750,000 Bits in order for Lacy to shave off his head and eyebrows. After finally receiving a sizable donation (equivalent to $2,500) Lacy was true to his word, shaving off all the hair on his skull, only to discover a short while after that the donation had been refunded.
The realization left the streamer visibly upset after essentially being tricked into pulling the irreversible stunt, leading to him pausingFortniteand debate the desire to move forward with the rest of the subathon. Lacy has decided to soldier on despite the mean-spirited trick, in what looks to be a largely successful subathon. While shaving off head and eyebrow hair may seem like a unique stunt, it actually isn’t the first time someone has done so while streaming on Twitch. A streamer namedHappy Hob shaved his head and eyebrows offafter failing to complete a no-hit run inBloodborne.
While viewers donating large sums and then refunding shortly thereafter is an unfortunate practice that occurs on Twitch, serial offenders do sometimes face consequences. A few years ago, an internettroll was denied trying to refund $50,000 in Twitch donationsafter making “false” ones to streamers. While the trick played on Lacy is a mean one, hopefully his hair grows back sooner than later.
