The Batmanco-star Colin Farrell has shared new details on his version of the Penguin. Farrell’s Penguin looks right on brand with the villain’s sinister and twisted look.

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, will star Robert Pattinson in the titular role, and it once again brings fans back to the start of the character’s story. This movie will take fans back to year two, when the caped crusader is still fresh into his war on crime and those who wish to do harm to the citizens of Gotham, while also offering a new take on the world and its characters. Farrell recently discussed how the Penguin will be handling the Reeves rebrand.

For starters, this version of Penguinwill not have a top hat. Farrell admits that there’s a scene with an umbrella in it, but it’s not an umbrella with mechanisms or triggers on it like fans are used to seeing the character having. The character does have a limp, a grotesque appearance, and a wider frame, which are some of the things the character is known for. However, it won’t be anything close to the mutant version of the Penguin played by Danny DeVito in 1992’sBatman Returns.

Reeves' movie is a much more realistic take on the world of Batman. The film’s other vllain, the Riddler, is much more sinister that past versions. He’s not wearing the green flashy leotard from the source material. Instead, this Riddler is wearing a mask that hides his face and dresses in dark clothes.Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman’s costumeisn’t the one many are familiar with now, as it’s still a work in progress. IfThe Batmangets a sequel, fans may see these characters don the outfits audiences are familair with.

The trailers so far have made it clear that this Batman is fresh off the tragedy that haunts his life. This Batman is not doing well mentally. He’s unhinged, careless, arrogant, prepared to die, and not concerned with how he’s viewed. He’s fixing crime and trying to fix his emotional depressive state in the only way he knows how. The character is diving head first into conflict.

The Batmandebuts in March, so it’s not too far away from finally being here after a few delays caused by the pandemic. Fans are super excited to see this new dark take on the caped crusader.
