Despite its age, the Nintendo Switch is still churning out plenty of great titles.The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis one of the biggest upcoming games on the platform, and gamers saw a bit more of it at the latest Nintendo Direct. With the game available for pre-order, fans can choose which edition to purchase. Although the Collector’s Edition ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis very alluring, it is far less attractive than the best edition ofBreath of the Wild.
Most notably,Tears of the Kingdom’s Collector’s Editiondoesn’t include any statues or figurines, which is disappointing.Breath of the Wilddid not make this mistake, as the Master Edition included a statue of the Master Sword. WhileTears of the Kingdommight very well surpass its predecessor’s amazing take on the open-world genre, it may be left behind in terms of extra content in its special editions.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition
One of the most anticipated games of 2023 isTears of the Kingdom. Link will be back in Hyrule, though things look very different. Players will have other gadgets at their disposal, and there will be new threats to overcome as the gameplay forces players to take to the skies. The latest Nintendo Direct gave fans another peak into the upcoming game, and players can now pre-order it. Some gamers are upset thatTears of the Kingdomwill cost $70, and the contents of the Collector’s Edition also leave much to be desired.
For $130, gamers get the game packaged in a beautiful steelbook case. A concept art booklet is also included, along with a poster and four enamel pins. This is nice, but it is considerably less than what is in a Collector’s Edition, which usually includes goodies like figurines or a vinyl record. It also pales in comparison toBreath of the Wild’s other editions. In 2017, players were able to purchase a Special Edition which came with the game, a 24-song CD, a Switch carrying case, a collectible coin, and a map. This package cost $100. For $130, players could purchase the Master Edition which included all the goodies of the Special Edition, along with a statue of theiconic Master Sword. For the same price, gamers seemingly got more bang for their buck withBreath of the Wild’s best edition.
Tears of the Kingdom’s Collectors Edition Could Have Tied In With the Game More
Part of what madeBreath of the Wild’s Special Edition and Master Edition great is that they tied in well with the game. The included Switch carrying case was styled after Link’s Sheikah Slate which players frequently use, and the Master Sword statue stressed the weapon’s importance.Tears of the Kingdomcould have followed a similar strategy by including items with significance. Although the game is still far from release, there have been a few items in trailers that are good candidates for statues or figurines.
In the latest trailer, Link is also shown riding some sort of cart andflying vehicle inTears of the Kingdomthat emanates green magic. Already there has been lots of speculation surrounding how this machine will work and whether it will be customizable. Having a figurine of it in the Collector’s Edition would have been a smart move, as it has already caught the imagination of gamers. A statue of Link or Zelda would have also been appreciated, as the princess appears to be playing a larger role in the upcoming game.
TheNintendo Direct eventwas filled with plenty of big announcements for fans, andTears of the Kingdomwasn’t the only thing on the show. The Switch has receivedMetroid Prime Remastered, and Nintendo Switch Online will receive Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games. Despite calls for a Switch successor, it seems the hybrid console still has plenty of life left in it, even if fans are not happy with the Collector’s Edition forTears of the Kingdom.
