The Mandalorianis set to debut its third season sometime next year, but that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering what’s to come. Recently, someone was able to record footage and take photos from the set ofThe Mandalorianseason 3, and a mysterious new character has caught the attention of fans.
Keep in mind this is no confirmation of what this means forThe Mandalorianseason 3, as this can also be footage for another project entirely. Regardless, it was reported previously that Mandalorians from all over the galaxy answerDin Djarin’s request for help, which leads to a big epic “battle sequence” where the vintage soldiers are all fighting to take back their old home.

The Mandalorianbrought a lot of really interesting charactersinto the show who fans are fond of. Many new faces and a few familiar ones will appear in the third season of the series. It’s hard to see who the character in the behind-the-scenes footage is, but it’s clearly a Mandalorian of some sort because they have the iconic jetpack. However, they don’t have a helmet on, so if it’s not the protagonist, then it must be a recurring character who will be introduced to fans for the first time.
The Mandalorianhas also managed to bring back familiar characters who will be getting their own spin-offs.TheBook of Boba Fetttrailer, for example, recently dropped and received great feedback. There’s a chance this season will introduce new characters who may or may not show up in otherStar Warsspin-offs.Disneyshould continue working on spin-off projects that continue to share the characters across itsStar Warsshows. It’s cool seeing Boba Fett and Ahsoka appear inThe Mandalorianwhile getting their own shows with the potential of crossing over in other spin-offs. This appears to beStar Wars' strong suit as of now. They’re focusing on telling stories outside of the mainline films that revolve around the timeline from the original trilogy (Episodes 4-6).
IfDisney was to do anotherStar Warsfilmthat isn’t a reboot, they should consider keeping the spin-offs going as well.Rogue Onedid a great job at following characters who weren’t a part of the Skywalker saga. As good as this film did, one can only wonder how long before Disney starts looking into the future of the overallStar Warslore.
Most of the spin-offs (includingRogue One) are set around the same period as Episodes 4-6, which is not a bad choice since it’s probably why the stories do great. However, it begs the question of how long do they ignore the recent trilogy (Episodes 7-9). They’ll have to decide whether to reboot it or continue with the choices they made.
The Mandalorianseason 3 is currently in production.
