Scott Pilgrim vs. The Worldburst into theaters 10 years ago this week but sadly bombed at the box office, earning just over half of its $85 million budget back. Despite the disappointing showing, the movie adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series went on to have a long afterlife, its hyper-kinetic visual style mixing animation and video games influencing music videos likeThe Vine’sGimme Loveand earning a cult following.

PostScott Pilgrimhowever, she made her name with thePitch Perfecttrilogy where she played Becca Mitchell, an aspiring musician who joins an a cappella group. The firstPitch Perfectreleased in 2012 and became a sleeper hit, igniting a new interest in a cappella performance and spawning two sequels. More recently Kendrick has publishedScrappy Little Nobody, a memoir about her rise to fame, provided the voice of Poppy inTrollsandTrolls: World Tourand recently starred as an FBI agent in the satireThe Day Shall Come. Kendrick will also be starring in upcoming sci-fi thrillerStowawaybut no release date has been set.

Brie Larson - Envy Adams

Larson’s first major role was in short lived sitcomRaising Dadback in 2002 but it was her performance as daughter Kate inUnited States of Tarathat really put her on the map. After starring as Scott’s ex-girlfriend Envy, Brie Larson’s breakthrough role was the lead in critically acclaimed indie dramaShort Term 12, which also featured future stars Rami Malek (Mr. Robot) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). But it was inRoomthat Larson received critical acclaim, taking home several awards including an Oscar for her performance as a young mother who gave birth in captivity. After starring as the sardonicApril Ludgate inParks and Recreation, Aubrey Plaza was the perfect choice to play the permanently irritable Julie Powers. Plaza then went on to star as the lead in indie comedySafety Not Guaranteedand lent her voice to Claire Wheeler inMonsters University. Chris Evans - Lucas Lee

Chris Evans was no stranger to comic book roles by the time he played Ramona’s evil ex Lucas Lee. By then Evans had already been Johnny Storm in theFantastic Fourmovies, voiced sports vigilante Casey Jones in the 2007 CG animatedTMNTmovie and played wisecracking hacker Jake Jensen inThe Losers. But anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past 10 yearsknows him best as the MCU cornerstone Captain America. Evans stepped into the role during the first phase of the MCU withCaptain America: The First Avengerand would go on to play the role through a further 9 movies with his last appearance inAvengers: Endgame.
