In December 2022, Netflix announcedThe Umbrella Academy’s fourth and final season would run only six episodes, giving fans less time to say goodbyes to their favorite heroes than the first three seasons' 10 episodes. But there are plenty of reasons to believe it won’t go wrong, likeGame of Thrones' final season.

PerEntertainment Tonight, two reasons are husband and wife Offerman and Mullally.Offerman’s recent role as Bill onThe Last of Uswas met with acclaim, even if the episode upset some die-hard fans of the games. That success aims to continue with his inclusion inThe Umbrella Academy’s upcoming fourth season. But he won’t be alone, as alongside him will be Mullally playing the in-show counterpart to her real-life position. Mullally commented on the project during the premiere ofParty DownSeason 3.
And, if Mullally’s continued inclusion in the phenomenalParty Downwasn’t enough to excite TV fans, her words onThe Umbrella Academywould be. “I mean, the deal’s not quite closed, but let’s just pretend it is,” she said, even detailing the characters, revealing their names are Jean and Gene and describing their personalities as “mild-mannered.” Furthermore, the real-life couple will play professors, a considerable shift from theirmemorable time onParks and Recreationas the chaotic Ron and Tammy “II” Swanson.
The Umbrella Academyfirst debuted on Netflix in 2019. No release date for the show’s in-production final season has been announced, but it’s expected either by the end of 2023 or the first half of 2024. All the main cast, including Page andResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’s Tom Hopper, is on board. There’s a good chance guest stars beyond Mullally and Offerman will be announced shortly. But, even if it is just the two of them, they are terrific additions and a great way to send the well-reviewed series out.
