The Witcher 3allows Geralt, Ciri, and the player to take on hundreds of enemies, both humans, and monsters. The boss fights stand out among the rest since they’re genuinely considered more difficult and often present a satisfying finale of a certain part of the game.

While some bosses' reputation fits their strength and the difficulty of fighting them, the powers of others are blown out of proportion. The Witcher 3presents some of its bosses as a genuine threat but once Geralt or Ciri get to them, it becomes obvious they’re not as powerful or difficult to defeat as the game would like the players to initially believe.

5Eredin

As the final boss of the base game,Eredin, king of the Wild Hunt, should be by all rules and accounts the most challenging boss of them all. That’s not what happens, though, as some of his subordinates, such as Imlerith, present a bigger challenge for Geralt to defeat. It’s true that the battle against Eredin has several stages, but it’s possible to entirely skip one of them if the player is fast enough and Geralt deals a considerable amount of damage to Eredin.

Interestingly enough, it’s also possible to clubber Eredin to death with very basic equipment and no protective armor if the player has fast reflexes and keeps at it long enough. Considering the fact that Eredin’s supposed to be the big bad wolf of the game, it’s hilariously ironic that Geralt can defeat him almost naked, wielding just a practice wooden sword instead of the real deal! Of course, not every player will have Geralt go against Eredin under these extreme circumstances, but even then, cutting down the king of the Wild Hunt should be more difficult than it is in the game.

4The King Of Wolves

Fighting the King of Wolvesis the first boss fight Ciri undergoes inThe Witcher 3. Yet even those players not yet accustomed to Ciri’s set of powers, especially her blinking slash teleporting ability, shouldn’t have that much of a hard time defeating the huge werewolf. Even though the King of Wolves is portrayed as a scary monster by Gretka, the little girl Ciri encounters in the woods, and despite the fact that the players see the results of the werewolf’s rampage with their own eyes, the fight itself isn’t so difficult.

Witcher 3 Ciri Fighting the King of Wolves

As long as Ciri manages to dodge the King of Wolves, she can dispatch him with relative ease without letting him lay a finger on her… or a claw in this case. Of course, it helps if she prepares the right type of oil for her sword, as that will make the fight go even faster. The basic strategy is clear - dodge, strike, and repeat until the werewolf is finished (which shouldn’t take long).

3Caleb Menge

The head of theChurch of the Eternal Fire in Novigrad, Caleb Menge, is a cunning, ruthless, and calculating son of a wench, as Geralt so eloquently put it when he was in the Land of a Thousand Fables. Menge has Novigrad under his thumb and is responsible for the deaths of dozens, if not hundreds of sorceresses, dopplers, and other innocent people and creatures who just had the bad luck of coming across him or his men.

Despite his reputation, defeating Menge in a sword combat isn’t so difficult. He puts up a brave fight but is still just a man so Geralt, thanks to his witcher skills, has an upper hand in the fight. Ironically, it’s Menge’s men who present a bigger challenge here because there are a lot of them, and they can easily swarm Geralt later on if he’s not careful enough and lets himself be driven into a corner.

2Ethereal

Ethereal is the wraith-like form ofOlgierd von Everec which represents his wife Iris' greatest fear. He’s the final boss in the von Everec old mansion, so he should logically be the most difficult one. Just like with Eredin, that’s not the case, though. Despite the fact that there are several of the Ethereal, Geralt can pick them off one by one with ease.

Witcher 3 Ethereal

As long as he doesn’t make the mistake of disturbing one of them during a fight with another or trying to fight them all at the same time, he always fights only a single Ethereal at a time. And after the previous combat experience the player has by this point, the Ethereal don’t seem anywhere near as strong as the previous bosses in the manor, such as the Caretaker or even the Wraith from the Painting.

1Golyat

Golyat is the first boss Geralt faces inthe DLC Blood and Wineafter he arrives in Toussaint. Thanks to his enormous size, the mere sight of Golyat can strike fear into the hearts of those who fight him as well as the players themselves. But even though Golyat looks scary, fighting him isn’t so difficult. He’s strong but slow in comparison to otherThe Witcher 3bosses which makes it easy to roll out of the way when he strikes or simply dodges.

What’s more, it’s possible to one-shot Golyat. All it takes is aiming the crossbow at his eye in the middle of his head, and if Geralt hits the target, Golyat is down for the count after a single shot. A similar one-shot technique works for the Cloud Giant in the Land of a Thousand Fables as well, but unlike with Golyat, killing the Cloud Giant with a single shot won’t bring the player a special in-game achievement.
