The Soulslike genre has evolved a lot over the last decade, with FromSoftware’s efforts influencing the numerous games that have been released and those that will be coming in the near future. One of these titles isThymesia, developed by indie developer Overborder Studio.Thymesiatakes cuesfrom FromSoftware’s PS4 exclusiveBloodbornewhen it comes toits aesthetics to gameplay. This includes the main character’s ability to wield various weapons that embody its raven-like design, taking on giant and difficult threats in a desolate world. However, players will be waiting a bit longer to wield that arsenal.

Earlier in August, the initial announcement from OverBorder Studio and Team17 said thatThymesiawas going to be released later in December. It would launch just a month before the highly-anticipated and bigger Soulslike game,Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware in collaboration with fantasy writer George R.R. Martin. While it was originally scheduled to release on PC exclusively, a delay is being made to accomodate for console launches.

The announcement of this delay was posted onto OverborderStudio’s Twitter account, where the developers acknowledged that some might be disappointed to hear that the game will not be released until next year. However, it did note how supportive the community has been towardsThymesia, stating that this delay is to release the game in the best state possible, making sure the developers give the game the proper amount of love and care needed.

Shortly after the announcement of the delay, the developers released a quick teaser trailer, showing off some of theboss fights and the explorable world ofThymesia. Not only did it say thatThymesiawould be released later in 2022, but it announced that the game would be coming to both the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5 consoles. The delay makes sense, as the game had originally been PC exclusive up until now, which means it will need to be optimized for these new targeted launches.

There were some fans that noted how this delay could putThymesiainto direct competition toElden Ring, with the two already getting comparisons beforehand. It doesn’t help thatElden Ringwill also be released on all of the platforms thatThymesiawill also be launching on, including PC. However, despite the challenging spot it is in currently, there are still some waysThymesiastands out in comparison to other Soulslike games. Hopefully, it will still find a special place in the hearts of gamers once it releases next year.

Thymesiais set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
