Pokimane, one of the most popular streamers on Twitch, revealed a surprise to her fans recently. Going live with the title “I’ve been keeping a secret from you all,” it was reasonable for some ofPokimane’s fansto be concerned, but the news was anything but bad.
Pokimane, as most viewers likely know, is fond of cats and has one of her own. Now, a new kitten has been added to her household, and that’s what she went live to announce.

Pokimane’s cat, Mimi, has been joined by a new kitten. Excitedly announcing the arrival onTwitch, Pokimane lifted her kitten to show to the camera. The kitten is still rather small, with white and orangey-colored fur. Pokimane fans can easily tell how excited the streamer is, hugging the kitten and giving it little kisses on-camera. While fans had wondered in the chat if Pokimane might be pregnant, the only new family member is this furry one.
Later on, Pokimane explained that for now, themale kittendoesn’t have a name. Pokimane is likely waiting for the right name to come to mind, or to learn more about the kitten’s personality before deciding. Following an off-screen bit of meowing from Mimi, she also noted that Mimi hasn’t adjusted to the kitten yet, though that is pretty common for cats.
Pokimane’s fondness for Mimi is well-known by her viewers, but she’s far from the only streamer with an attachment or association with cats. Cats are pretty popular across the internet as a whole, so it only makes sense for them to have a presence in streaming, as well. Unfortunately, some streamer controversies around cats have arisen over the years, the most notable of which is likelyAlinity throwing her caton stream, which led to concerns and anger as to whether the cat was being abused.
Of course, most memorable moments involving cats on-stream don’t revolve around the cat being endangered. Cats have gone viral multiple times for shutting down Twitch streams or even interrupting an importantFinal Fantasy 14cutscene by throwing upin the midst of it. In general, the cat owners/streamers seem to take these incidents pretty well. Other streamers have worked to raise funds for cat-centric charities and funds by streaming playthroughs of games online.
For now, Pokimane fans will have to wait with bated breath to find out what the name of her new kitten will be. In any case, it’s clear that the community is very excited about the new star, and they can expect to see a fair amount of him with Pokimane talking about using a second camera to show off her cats.
