Summary
SinceValheimis still in early access, there will inevitably be more content for the game coming in future updates, such as the upcoming Ashlands Biome update set to release in the first half of 2024. Although, it’s worth mentioning that whileValheim’s Ashlands Biome updateis expected to bring a variety of new content toValheim, namely including a new biome and boss fight, the Ashlands update has been said to be the final major content update forValheim. Even with this in mind, there’s still a lot of content for players to experience before then, including seven epic boss battles.
No two bosses inValheimare quite alike, mainly considering the differences in their difficulty and rewards, but also taking into account the spectacle of each fight. For these reasons, a few of the boss fights that are currently available inValheimstand out above the rest.
S-Tier
Bonemass:Valheim’s third boss, the Bonemass, is a more traditional fight that grants players the freedom to use their favoriteweapons inValheim, instead of being locked into using any one specific strategy. The Forsaken Power that players unlock from defeating this boss is a great tool to have throughout the difficulty spikes for the subsequent bosses, since it significantly increases the player’s resistance to incoming physical damage types.
The Queen:Even for full servers of players,Valheim’s Mistlands biomecan be immensely challenging. However, players will have access to more than enough tools for the job by this sixth boss fight inValheim. Not only does the Queen’s Forsaken Power increase the player’s mining efficiency, but it also doubles their Eitr regeneration speed for getting more use out of the magic weapons inValheim.
A-Tier
Eikthyr:AlthoughValheim’s first boss is a simple fight, it still serves as a satisfying introduction to the combat systems in the game. Additionally, very few of the otherForsaken Powers inValheimcompare to Eikthyr’s Forsaken Power, which significantly reduces the stamina cost of running and jumping. This is arguably one of the most helpful Forsaken Abilities throughout the game, at least before players gain access to tamed Lox mounts and portals as a faster means of traversal.
Moder:Valheim’s fourth boss arguably has the most memorable summoning ritual. However, finding and bringing all three dragon eggs to the Mountains biome to summon Moder can be a big hurdle because of their weight and rarity. Moder’s Forsaken Power is ultimately a big time-saver for traveling via boats inValheim, as it temporarily provides a favorable wind direction for maximum sailing speed.
B-Tier
Yagluth:While players will have access to several different weapons andarmor sets inValheimby the time they reach the game’s fifth boss fight, Yagluth, the difficulty of this fight can still be quite extreme. Consequently, Yagluth arguably isn’t very accessible for solo players without relying on cheese tactics or mods forValheim. While Yagluth’s Forsaken Power can be helpful for surviving elemental damage types, players can easily keep potions on hand and equip a different Forsaken Power instead.
C-Tier
The Elder:The second boss fight inValheimis a long, drawn-out fight because of the limited variety of weapons that players have access to at this point. Considering that this boss gives players access to a key item that’s required for the next stage of progression, skipping this boss fight and coming back later with better gear isn’t really a viable option, unfortunately.
The Forsaken Power from The Elder grants players increased damage to trees for harvesting wood faster. While this Forsaken Power is noticeable at first, players will naturally increase their efficiency of gathering wood by crafting stronger axes and upgrading their proficiency with this tool as they progress in the game anyway.
