EveryWorld of Warcraftrace has their iconic mount, and the new Dracthyr are certainly no exception, as their mounts have just been datamined in the latestDragonflightbuild. A tradition that began in theearly days ofWorld of Warcraft, even races who have not had mounts initially, such as the Alliance’s Worgen, have received them retroactively at some point over the course of the game’s lifetime.

Despite other MMOs having their own unique takes on mount and riding systems, none can compare to the sheer diversity that is theWorld of Warcraftstable. Purely from a collector’s viewpoint,World of Warcraftis second to none, providing mountains of mounts for players to obtain through all sorts of game modes, achievements, and even vendor purchases. At the very bottom of that totem pole lie the race-specific mounts, but they are far from its least important piece – merely its most accessible one.

The Dracthyr mounts – known as Vorquins – are unsurprisingly draconic in visage, as they belong to a race of draconic beings that wield the powers of the Five Dragonflights. The base skeleton of the Vorquins is that of a horse, but the similarities end there. Adorned in scales and horns, and having claws instead of hooves on their hind legs, it is very much a design that feels at home with the rest of theDragon Isles' aesthetic.

Discovered by Wowhead, the mounts for the Dracthyr come in four colors and two types: a basic one, and an armored one. All eight variations can be obtained from a vendor in the Forbidden Reach called Treysh, who sells them for 40 gold and 80 gold, respectively. Esthetics aside, and given that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, at the very least the mounts will be an excellent means of padding one’s mount collection.World of Warcraft’sreward for obtaining 500 mountshas recently been switched out for a far more enticing option, and being able to add 8 new mounts towards attaining that goal is more than welcome.

All signs point thatWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightis launching in December, with the pre-patch (now available on the Public Test Realms) arriving a few weeks prior to its premiere. The pre-patch will feature a two-week long questline as a prologue into the expansion pack’s story, and will also feature a level 60 version of the classic Uldaman dungeon. Whether Dracthyr Evokers and their draconic steeds will also be a part of the pre-patch experience remains to be seen.

World of Warcraftis available now on PC, withDragonflightlaunching later this year.
