Once Link has safely returned to Central Hyrule, players may explore the region, discover secrets and quests, and progress the main story ofZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While exploring Hyrule, Link may encounter herds of wild horses, which are typically found roaming in vast open fields.Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayers may tame a wild horseby mounting and soothing it until the horse has finally calmed down. After successfully taming the horse, players may register the horse at a nearby stable and give it a name for just 20 rupees. Horse customization features and additional rewards may be earned by accruing Pony Points, which are given by a stable master after registering a horse, visiting a stable for the first time, or paying for a bed.

Zeldafan Malinblie witnessed their trusty steed get stuck in a disheartening loop after an apple was stuck on thehorse’s towing harness inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The horse may be seen walking around in circles trying to eat the apple as it’s being dragged by the towing harness. Although a few apples are ready to be collected on the ground nearby, Malinblie’s horse appears to ignore the other apples in favor of the one being dragged in a loop.
Up tosix horses may be owned at onceinZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and only one of Link’s horses may be active at a time after being registered. After dismounting a horse inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it will normally stay within a small radius and observe its surroundings as shown by Malinblie’s gameplay clip. Players may also feed the horse by placing an apple in Link’s hand and approaching the horse’s mouth. The horse’s understanding will increase, forging a stronger relationship between Link and his horse.
Malinblie appears to be putting the horse through some distress, but the gameplay clip is another reminder that players may feed the horse in order to improve its relationship with Link. Apples appear to be a horse’s favorite food inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, so players may want to feed it after a long and tiring expedition in Hyrule.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayers may take advantage of additional horse benefits by pursuingthe mythical horse god Malanya. The horse god will give Link clues and bizarre messages while lodging at a stable and sleeping in a Malanya bed. After summoning Malanya, the god may revive a horse for Link or enhance its capabilities.
